What does BWSW do?
BWSW (Bangladeshi Welfare and Social Welfare) organizes cultural programs such as Pahela Boishakh, which is the Bengali New Year celebration.
We celebrate two significant religious festivals: Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha. Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims after 30 days of fasting during the month of Ramadan. Eid ul-Adha is when Muslims sacrifice animals for the sake of Allah (swt) after the pilgrimage on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah.
Additionally, we organize an annual Mezban party, which is a prominent Bangladeshi tradition. During this event, we invite our friends and families from both within and outside the community to join us for a meal. It serves as an opportunity to exchange information, foster well-being, support, community cohesion, and friendship.
BWSW also arranges day trips during the summer holidays to seaside locations, museums, and other historical places.
Furthermore, we have recently introduced religious and Bengali language educational programs to cater to both the young and old generations. These programs aim to provide knowledge about the religious and cultural significance of our community.
