Bangladesh Welfare Society Watford (BWSW) Successfully Holds Eid Reunion Event

The Bangladesh Welfare Society Watford (BWSW) successfully organized a vibrant Eid reunion event on 29 March 2026. Members attended from various cities across the United Kingdom, including Borehamwood, Hitchin, Luton & Dunstable, Bricket Wood, and Watford. The event became a joyful gathering for the Bangladeshi expatriate community, celebrating unity, culture, and togetherness.

The event was hosted by BWSW Treasurer Nahid Hussain. It began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, delivered by the organization’s respected General Secretary, Khaled M. Chowdhury. This was followed by a heartwarming group performance by children of the timeless Eid song by Kazi Nazrul Islam, “O Mor Ramzaner Oi Rozar Sheshe Elo Khushir Eid,” which deeply touched the audience and created an emotional atmosphere.

The program featured engaging game shows for both men and women, delightful performances by children, distribution of Eid gifts, and the much-anticipated raffle draw. After dinner was served in the evening, Cultural Secretary Sarwar Alam performed nostalgic acoustic band music, adding a special charm to the event and taking the audience on a musical journey filled with memories.

In the concluding segment, the Trustee Chair expressed heartfelt gratitude to all members, volunteers, and well-wishers. He stated that their moral support, cooperation, and goodwill made the event meaningful and successful.

Ifter party 8th of March 2026

A grand Iftar Mahfil was organized by the Bangladesh Welfare Society Watford yesterday, Sunday. More than two hundred men and women from different countries, including Bangladeshis, participated in this Mahfil at the hall room of the local North Watford Jame Mosque. Bangladeshis living in Watford organize this Iftar Mahfil every year on the initiative of this organization, and Bangladeshi expatriates, including employees of this organization, participate in it with their families. During this time, prayers and well-being are offered for Bangladeshis living in Bangladesh and around the world.

Pitha Festival 2026

Last Sunday, 11 January 2026, the Bangladesh Welfare Society Watford organised a vibrant Pitha Festival. Members participated by bringing their own traditional homemade pitha, which enriched the entire event. The programme was conducted by the Organising Secretary, Muhammad Reza Rumel.

Isam, Noah and Miran recited verses from the Holy Qur’an. Shoaib, Affan and Khadija performed Bengali poems and rhymes, adding a unique cultural atmosphere to the occasion. Children’s songs and traditional dance performances made the festival even more lively. There were engaging game shows for children, women and men alike, spreading joy and enthusiasm among all participants.

After dinner, the cultural segment concluded with performances of Bangladeshi folk songs by renowned singer Nesmina Parvin and nostalgic rock music by Sarowar.

A children’s art exhibition was also arranged, and all artworks were published on social media. Each participating child received a certificate and a medal in recognition of their creativity, presented by the organisation’s President Sahedul Alam, Vice President Shafiqul Rahman and Secretary Khaled Chowdhury. The prize-giving ceremony was conducted by Treasurer Nahid Hossain.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event and expressed hope that BWSW will continue organising such programmes in the future to keep generations connected to the roots, traditions and culture of Bangladesh.

Mezban Celebration in Watford 2025

On 24 August 2025, the Bangladesh Welfare Society Watford (BWSW) hosted a grand Mezban festival at Watford Holywell Community Centre, uniting Bangladeshis across the Three Counties. The event opened with Qur’an recitation and was inaugurated by President & Trustee Chair, Shahedul Alam, who highlighted the organization’s dedication to community and diversity development.

Distinguished guests included Watford Mayor Peter Taylor, Newham Councillor & GCA President Akhtar-ul-Alam, alongside BWSW executives and trustees. Traditional Mezban dishes, cultural hospitality, and vibrant community presence turned the day into a memorable reunion.

The Mayor and speakers praised BWSW’s commitment, volunteers’ dedication, and the success of the event, marking it as a colorful celebration of Bangladeshi heritage in the UK.

Eid Reunion Party 2025

On Sunday 4th May Bangladesh Welfare Society Watford (BWSW) organized an Eid reunion event with families residing in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, all members attended with their families. Finance Editor Nahid Hossain and Organizational Secretary Muhammad Reza Rumel conducted the program. The program started with General Secretary Khaled Manjoor Chowdhury and Affan and Miran’s Quran recitation. Child teens perform in singing, singing and dancing. Also had some game shows for men and women guests. Dinner and the cultural program concludes with songs of renowned singers Intisar, Hassan and Nesmina Parveen. Children participating in this event are given testimonials for creativity. Finally the president of the organization Saheedul Alam presented prizes to the winners and children’s Eid gifts. She thanked the invited guests for participating in the event. He promises that BWSW will organize more such events in the future to build roots and connections with Bangladesh.

Ifter party 16 th march 2025

Bangladesh Welfare Society Watford organized an Iftar with all its members on 16th March. This year’s Iftar was a little different. We organized this Iftar with the general public at a local mosque complex to showcase our culture to the diverse Muslim community. The event began with a melodious recitation from the Holy Quran by the organization’s general secretary, Khaled Manzur. The Iftar Mahfil ended with a prayer by the respected Imam of the mosque. President Shahedul Alam thanked everyone for making the event a success. On behalf of Bangladesh Welfare Society Watford, we would like to thank the volunteers, mosque committee and its chairman, Alhaj Yaqub, for their co-operation in this sensitive event.

Traditional pitha utshob 2024

Bangladesh Welfare Society organized Watford Pitha Festival last Thursday 26th December, all members brought their traditional pitha. General Secretary Khaled Manjur Chowdhury and Organizing Secretary Muhammad Reza conducted the program. Poet Faizul Islam recited Bengali poetry, children performed songs and traditional Bengali dances.An art exhibition for children was organized on the occasion.
